With the arrival of springtime, comes the revelation of the beauty of nature. A quote by Lewis Grizzard seems to best describe spring: “Springtime is the land awakening.” The flowers begin blooming, the insects come venturing out of their hiding places, and the trees start sprouting buds. As the weather warms, we observe a shift as nature changes scenery. While springtime often connotes endless fields of greenery and flowering meadows, the change begins small at first. The wintertime leaves behind a barren landscape, and as the ice thaws and the snow melts, the beauty of nature slowly emerges from its slumber.
These photographs represent the arrival of springtime, showing the slight changes that commence as the weather warms. Sometimes, these events go unnoticed, such as the case with a single budding branch or the sighting of a lone roly-poly. Other moments of springtime last for only a short while, like the flowers that bloom and then quickly lose their petals or the bees that pass by too quickly for the eye to follow. These photographs highlight the changing of the seasons, from winter to spring, depicting the beauty of nature and preserving instances of springtime that we would otherwise lose with the passing of time.
